Captain Woo (우대장, U Daejang; "Woo Captain") was a member of the Naeseonhyang and the leader of their military force, second only to Lord Miruk.

Appearance & Personality[]

Captain Woo was a stern-looking man with a black beard and a thick moustache. His most distinguishing feature was the large scar that ran vertically over his left eye. He always wore a scarf that covers his entire head, exposing only his face, and also wore shabby clothing.

He was a very loyal and serious man. He had a tactical mindset and was very cautious, planning far ahead to eliminate any threats. He was so loyal that he would even go against his lord's wishes just to protect him, and would not hesitate to sacrifice himself for the safety of his lord, even when facing against the Heavenly Destroyer's fifth disciple, Gang Ryong. Captain Woo also seemed to be knowledgeable about the history of the murim.

Plot[]

Stirring[]

Suspicious about the recent events of someone prying for information on their faction, Captain Woo ordered his men to summon the Wild Dogs so as to eliminate all possible threats to their Lord.

Wild Dogs[]

After finding out that Wang Eungi had failed to stop Gang Ryong, the Captain Woo said it was fine as Sa Paecheon will intervene now.

Later as Gang Ryong fought Sa Paecheon, he revealed Sa Paecheon's past as a legendary, yet villainous gosu of the Old Murim Alliance, and his role in the great war decades before. After Gang slayed the Devil of the Venom Hands, the men surrounding the battle were left confused about the outcome so Captain Woo ordered his men to find out who won and to retrieve Gang's body if he was dead.

Gwi Yeong[]

Concerned for Lord Miruk's safety from the Heavenly Destroyer's disciple, Captain Woon proposed to increase security but Lord Miruk told him to ignore the situation and focus on issues that matter. Leaving, Captain Woo told the others to round up the men as he had a secret order to give. The next day, Captain Woo noticed the clash between Lord Miruk and Gang Ryong, and rushed to his lord's defense alongside the other guards. However, due to the sudden appearance of the Naeseonhyang villagers, Gwi Yeong silently communicated with Ryong, asking if they could finish this another time; Ryong gives him an ultimatum of three days. The people of Naeseonhyang then walked off. Back in the village, Lord Miruk told the villagers and then Captain Woo not to interfere in his business and also to leave the young man (who he assured was not an assassin) alone.

The next day in the evening, Captain Woo and the guards of the Naeseonhyang tracked Gang Ryong down and challenged him but were all easily subdued. After regaining consciousness, he found a knocked out Lord Miruk nearby and escorted him home.

Captain Woo and the rest of Naeseonhyang were all slaughtered by Mak Sapyeong and his subordinates when the latter paid Lord Miruk (Gwi Yeong) a visit.

Powers & Abilities[]

Captain Woo never had the opportunity to showcase his martial skills but he was known to wield a sword in battle.[1]
