Chapter 11: A flashback reveals the child's past. One day, the boy's mother left him at the care of the village chief, noting that she would be back in a year. Because his mother was a prostitute and his father was a murderer, he earned the ire of the village chief's wife who constantly abused him. After a year, the child's mother still hadn't come back for him but he goes looking for her when a peddler named Chuldo informed him of her location.
In the present, as the boy sits depressed on a cliff, Chuldo arrives and calls out to him, revealing his name as actually So Jinmyung. Chuldo questions him on why he hasn't gone to see his mother yet despite her being so close, and So Jinmyung lies that she wasn't there but at Hobuk castle. Calling out the boy on the lie, Chuldo says that he will take the boy to her but So Jinmyung lashes out, claiming that the nearly blind woman from before isn't his mom as he never seen her so happy before (essentially, he thinks that she is happier without him). Chuldo insists but the boy yells out that a man should never make a woman sad, adding that he is a man (meaning that he is willing to endure never seeing his mother again just to keep letting her live a happy life). Chuldo, who is revealed to be Goo Hwi, agrees.
Back at the home of the man from before, the man wonders why So Jinmyung hasn't returned from the creek yet. As he talks with So Jinmyung's mother, it is revealed that the man found her unconscious by a ravine and that she had lost her memories. Then he mentions that he is not the wonderful man she thinks he is but she insists that even if she regained her memories, she will never leave him.
Outside on the roof of the home, Black Snake members Jang-Ryong and Pung-Ho lazily lie around and they express their boredom with the mission of watching over So Jinmyung's mother.
