Chapter 12: As Yongbi rests in a hot spring, a colossal boulder comes flying towards him but he dodges it and deflects two smaller ones. Then another barrage of stones and logs comes flying out of the forest and obliterates the area he is in. Coming out, Goo Hwi inspects the aftermath noting that he was just testing Yongbi, and upon noticing a large pool of blood, he amusingly mentions that Yongbi is weaker than he thought. However, upon seeing Yongbi unscathed, Goo Hwi notices that the pool of blood is from a nearby dead deer. Then Yongbi strikes Goo Hwi with a powerful attack for the latter's silly antics.
Later over a drink, Goo Hwi tells Yongbi that So Jinmyung was sent to Geumcheonbo to learn how to be a merchant under Yul Mugi. The boy's mother was sent to Hobuk castle for medical treatment, and that her sight is expected to recover but nothing can be done about her amnesia. It is also revealed that Goo Hwi was the one tailing and protecting the child. Then Goo Hwi inquires on the identity of So Jinmyung's father, noting that he was arrested for murder before the boy was born, and Yongbi cryptically answers that the boy's father was a fellow member of the Black Lancers. When Goo Hwi asks for his commission fees, Yongbi repeats the cryptic message and repeatedly dodges the question. Realizing that Yongbi doesn't intend to pay, Goo Hwi brawls with him.
Elsewhere, Biryong is fishing for food.
