Season 2, Chapter 123: The chapter begins with a flashback of an incident during the war with the Asura Blood Sect where the Black Snake are supposedly meeting up with the Asura Blood Sect for a prisoner exchange. As Goo Hwi and the Black Snake members waited for the other party at their designated meeting area, the former wondered where they were and why Grand Prelate Okcheonbi would behave so shallowly despite being the one to first offer an exchange of prisoners. His subordinate reasoned that it may be a change of heart or a plot to remove the Heaven Ravager King from the main host before the battle at the Baekhua Mountains. Angered, Goo Hwi prepared to leave but was interrupted by his men's discovery of Elder Myeong and company tied up in an underground cellar. The Black Snake assassins told Goo Hwi to stay put as they will escort the elder out but Goo Hwi refused, mentioning that Elder Myeong will resent him for not going down there in person. As the Black Snake members break open the cell to free their comrades, Elder Myeong became extremely agitated at the arrival of Goo Hwi but was unable to say anything due to being gagged. As one Black Snake member wondered why gunpowder littered the floor, a Asura Blood Sect member, hiding amongst the prisoners, chuckled to himself, mentioning that it is just as the Grand Prelate predicted. Then with the gag off, Elder Myeong screamed at Goo Hwi to get away as it was a trap. The Blood Sect member detonated an explosive device but Goo Hwi could only stare in shock as his subordinates threw themselves around him to shield him. After the massive explosion settled, Goo Hwi stood in silence, staring at the place Elder Myeong once sat and then his focus shifted to the men who gave their lives for him.
In the present, Goo Hwi is enraged by this memory and unleashes his Fire Demon's Heaven Incinerating Earth Flame, and combined with Yongbi's attack, destroys a colossal area of the Sky Gorge Mountain. When the dust settles, the two elders are visibly stressed and Yongbi comments that he's losing stamina as he gets older and wonders if things would have been different if he took the stuff that his wife gave him which she said was good for the body. Yongbi then questions out loud if Okcheonbi is dead and tells Goo Hwi that they have to go find Jin Garyeong and the other children. Meanwhile, a sliver of fabric of the Grand Prelate reveals itself and launches an attack which the two elders evade. He then follows up by unleashing multiple ki spears which Yongbi dodges and Goo Hwi blocks. As he regenerates himself, Okcheonbi announces that he thought the two elders were leaving after thinking he was dead but it was all a trick to bait him out. Yongbi responds by calling his opponent the "master of schemes" and that if Okcheonbi wanted them to think he was dead, he could have started by removing the pressure of ki coming from the Thousand Circle Formation, adding that they would have been disappointed if he went down that easily. Okcheonbi then commends his opponents for being able to perform such techniques despite the pressure from the resonance but notes that there has to be a limit to the amount of ki they are spending. Then Yongbi says Okcheonbi is on to them, to which Goo Hwi tells him to shut up.
Okcheonbi praises his opponent's techniques for being powerful but concludes they cannot kill him and that if those are their best, then they are truly out of chances. Having enough of this charade, Yongbi tells Okcheonbi to stop yapping around since he was impressed by their attack. Thinking that Okcheonbi wants them to show him a secret technique they have been hiding, Yongbi declares that he will showcase one before telling Goo Hwi to move aside. Goo Hwi stops him however, wondering what his comrade is doing and he if plans on taking him out with a suicide attack alone. Yongbi brushes the Heaven Ravager King off, reasoning that even if they attack together, there is no guarantee that their destructive power will double, and that it is a waste of energy. He then further explains that he will at least shatter the Dan and leave the clean up to Goo Hwi. At that, Yongbi reveals to Okcheonbi he was the one who killed Hyeol Bi and that he better hope his Dan is stronger, before preparing to attack. Then suddenly, Gang Ryong arrives.
