Chapter 23: Heukweol enters the building fearing that Yeonhwa is dead. Then he hears the muffled sounds of the bounded Yeonhwa and collapses in relief. Yongbi threatens to execute her however, to which Heukweol state that Yeonhwa isn't an assassin of the Secret Sword School and offers his own head instead. Yongbi then draws his sword, noting that Heukweol's word is worthless and adds that he intend to give both of them quick and painless deaths. At that, Heukweol yields and gives Yongbi the information he wants.
At dawn, Yongbi begins to leave. Sensing a presence, he stops and glances over at the direction of his stalker who quickly retreats behind cover. Then Yongbi makes his way over to a collapsed building and peer inside only to find Biryong sleeping peacefully among the rubble. Angered that Biryong is sleeping so calmly after all the young man had been through, Yongbi punishes his steed.
Elsewhere, Lord Moonjoo meets with the Grand General, Yuk Jingang at an outpost in the middle of a large body of water. When Lord Moonjoo sits down, the Grand General questions him if he knows the reason for the summon. Lord Moonjoo replies that it is to commission a new mission to which Yuk Jingang notes that the current mission to eliminate Yongbi is suppose to be the last. Then Lord Moonjoo reminds the Grand General that the latter promised to pardon him from his service with this mission but the Grand General offhandedly reveals he does not intend to keep his promise. Furthermore, Yuk Jingang comments that he is personally intervening in the hunt for Yongbi and tells Lord Moonjoo to wash his hands of the situation as he does not believe they can succeed. However, Lord Moonjoo is unable to swallow these conditions, citing the critical losses of his agents and two sons (thinking Heukweol is dead). Lord Moonjoo then angrily calls out the Grand General on how this was his plan all along and how he used the former's organization as bait, adding that the Grand General intended to dispose of them once they outlived their usefulness. Yuk Jingang slyly replies that he never asked for their deaths, only for Lord Moonjoo to wash his hands of the situation. Knowing that the Grand General still has far greater schemes in mind, Lord Moonjoo furiously calls him out once more. At that, numerous warriors of the Secret Sword School appear and surround Yuk Jingang, angering the latter.
