Chapter 97: Goo Hwi easily shakes off Chomu attack and sends the latter crashing into a boulder nearby, heavily injuring him. Chomu get ups and cries out in pain when he realizes that his left wrist and hand are broken. Lim Jin-Choong watches in shock, intimidated by Goo Hwi's feat of strength and wonders who he is. The assassin draws his weapon but hesitates to attack. As he contemplates whether to strike Goo Hwi in the back, Jang-Ryong and Pung-Ho reveals their presence to the assassin and muses about the futility of sneak attacking a man as strong as Goo Hwi.
Enraged, Chomu retaliates against Goo Hwi but is once again easily subdued. After Goo Hwi breaks Chomu's arm, the latter finally notices the signature Black Snake tattoo, and realizes that this Goo Hwi is the real one. But it is too late to correct his mistake and Goo Hwi kills Chomu with a single slap.
With Chomu dead, Jang-Ryong and Pung-Ho informs Lim Jin-Choong that he just lost his chance to attack Goo Hwi. The assassin sees their tattoo and finds out that they are Black Snake members and that the Goo Hwi present is the real deal. The two Black Snake assassins then get up to deal with Lim Jin-Choong but he slashes them and jumps far away. Upon landing, the assassin discovers that the Black Snake members not only dodged his attack but had cut off both of his legs, and at that, he screams in pain. Goo Hwi wonders what to do with Hwangbo Soong since he doesn't want to leave a defenseless old man in such a dangerous place, to which Hwangbo Soong responds that he has a strong bodyguard, the Thousand-Killing Ghost Archer. At the mention of Wang In being in the Muhae Valley, Goo Hwi scowls.
Elsewhere, Yongbi slaughters the horde of mad men that has gathered around him. He is then approached by Wang In and after confirming Yongbi's identity from a sketch, Wang In fires an arrow to catch Yongbi's attention. With Yongbi's attention on him, Wang In introduces himself, revealing that he is a former member of the Black Snake.
Meanwhile, Jang-Ryong and Pung-Ho reveals to Hwangbo Soong that Wang In was formerly the Black Snake assassination instructor and has left the organisation over five years ago. Goo Hwi wonders why Wang In is in the Muhae Valley since the latter promised to never return to the world of martial arts again.
