Elder Myeong (명장로, Myeongjanglo) was a high-ranking officer of the infamous Black Snake.
Appearance & Personality[]
Elder Myeong was an old man with a round balding head, long sideburns, and his remaining hair was tied into a bun. He had a thick white moustache and wore the typical garments of the time.
He cared a lot about Sohee and prioritized Goo Hwi's safety over everything else. He also didn't take too kindly to being insulted as seen when he punished the Black Snake members for their insults.[1]

History[]
Elder Myeong appears to be a long-time friend of the Goo family. In the past, he purchased some underclothes for Sohee which caused a series of hilarious misunderstandings for Goo Hwi in the future.[2]

After Goo Hwi was captured by Yongbi and imprisoned, Elder Myeong and the rest of the Black Snake set out to free him. They stopped by an inn and Sohee went over their plans with him and other high-ranking officers. However, they all retreated after receiving news of Goo Hwi's escape and government troops closing in on their location.
Volume 15[]
As Goo Hwi is putting his men through hellish training, Elder Myeong went to inform Goo Hwi of Yul Mugi's arrival for a meeting. Goo Hwi instructed him to unleash debris onto the men climbing up the cliff once an hour. He then called out to the men to see if they were alright but after only being met with insults, he angrily released all of the debris at once on them.

Elder Myeong participated in the Old Murim Alliance's war against the Asura Blood Sect and ended up being captured. Grand Prelate Okcheonbi used him and other Black Snake members as a trap for Goo Hwi in the guise of a prisoner exchange. At the eve of the Battle at the Baekhua Mountain, Goo Hwi went to do the exchange but the Blood Sect was a no show. The elder was eventually found in a cage inside an underground cell and Goo Hwi personally went to greet him. Upon seeing Goo Hwi, Elder Myeong desperately tried to warn him it was a trap but failed due to being gagged. Once freed from the gag, he revealed it was a trap and screamed at his fellow Black Snake assassins to evacuate Goo Hwi before being killed by a massive explosion set off by a Blood Sect member hiding among the prisoners.[3]

As a high-ranking officer and squad leader of the Black Snake, it is presumed that he was a skilled combatant.[4]
