Gang Yoon (강윤, Gang-yun) was Gang Ryong's father and a friend of his master, Dokgo Ryong. He once retired from his position as leader of the Haidong Sword Clan and gave the role to his disciple but later returned to take up the role again.
Appearance & Personality[]
Gang Yoon was a handsome looking young man who had his black hair tied into a ponytail, and had bangs flowing over his forehead. During his retirement he wore simple bright-colored robes. When he returned to the Haidong Sword Clan, he wore dark colored clothing and had an ornamental hairpiece.
He was a righteous man who opposed violence.

At some point, Gang Yoon left the Haidong Sword Clan and passed off the leadership to his disciple.
After Dokgo Ryong fought Sa Paecheon and was incapacitated by his poison, Gang Yoon found the unconscious Dokgo and brought him to his home. There, he did his best to remove the poison and treated the wounds. After regaining consciousness, Dokgo Ryong questioned Gang Yoon if he treated him and the latter admitted he did. Dokgo Ryong befriended Gang Yoon and his wife, and the Supreme Overlord continued to visit them. In one such meeting, Gang Yoon confirmed that he was returning to the Haidong Sword Clan, leaving his wife behind at their home. Dokgo Ryong then questioned Gang Yoon on why the Haidong Sword Clan was going against the Heavenly Destruction Sect even though they might ultimately have the same goal, citing that the Sword Clan was expelled from the Murim Alliance for opposing their ways. Gang Yoon responded that the Heavenly Destruction Sect's way of forcing their ideals on others was just another form of violence whether they do it out of hatred or love. Dokgo then wondered why Gang Yoon saved him despite knowing his identity as the leader of the Heavenly Destruction Sect, and the latter humorously mentioned that he wasn't planning on returning to the Haidong Sword Clan at the time.
Some time later, Gang Yoon reassumed his position as leader of the Haidong Sword Clan and opposed the Heavenly Destruction Sect's conquest of the Murim. This led to a lot of trouble for them so the Four Heavenly Kings came up with a plot, resulting in Gang Yoon's death. However, at some point before his death, Gang Yoon told his wife to deliver a message to Dokgo; that Gang Yoon knew Dokgo Ryong was only doing what was best for his Sect, just like him, so he wouldn't resent him however things turned out.
Powers & Abilities[]
It is presumed that he wielded a sword being a leader of the Haidong Sword Clan. He was also at the very least, capable at the medical arts as seen when he removed Sa Paecheon's poison from Dokgo Ryong and nursed him back to health.[1]
