Go Hyeop, the One-eyed Dragon (독안룡 고협, Doganlyong Gohyeob) was the infamous leader of the now-defunct Blood Snake Sect. He later earned a reputation as the Muhae Valley Monster (무해곡의 고인, Muhaegog-ui Goin).

Appearance & Personality

Go Hyeop was a elderly man with a disheveled appearance. He had a long flowing messy white beard, long white hair that flares out wildly, thick eyebrows, and a scruffy moustache. He walked around barefooted, and the nails on his hands and feet were long and sharp. Go Hyeop also wore a ragged simple robe.

He was considered to be a ruthless man who employed cruel and grotesque methods to subjugate others. His heinous acts earned him the title of "Grand Villain".

History

Approximately fifty years before the story of Yongbi the Invincible, Go Hyep led the Blood Snake Sect and indiscriminately subjugated many righteous and chaotic factions. Since his unprecedented methods were cruel and grotesque, five factions under the Murim Alliance joined forces and defeated the Blood Snake Sect. Go Hyeop recklessly used his ki while his meridians were severed and suffered ki overload, he was thought to have fell to his death in the Muhae valley.[1]

Plot

Yongbi the Invincible

Volume 7

Powers and Abilities

In the past, Go Hyeop was a grand villain who terrorized the murim, his Blood Snake Sect was such a force to be reckoned with that it took five Murim Alliance factions to defeat them.[1] Even many years later in his old age, he was still considered to be a "monster".[2] When Go Hyeop's ki was released, it caused a rupturing sound heard by those far away.[3] His inner ki was said to contain overwhelming power and Sanggwan Chaek even considered him to be stronger than Cruel Moon Archdemon who rivaled the Twelve Supreme Masters.[4][5]

Master Whip Practitioner: Go Hyeop's main weapon was the Phantasmal Roaring Whip of Power (금환호골편 (金環虎骨鞭) , Geumhwanhogolpyeon). Having lost his weapon, he used vines in the whip's place in the Muhae Valley. He was able to expertly maneuver them in many directions and was powerful enough to slice his opponent to pieces with just a twirl.[2]

Life Drain Technique: Go Hyeop stole a special technique of the Life Drain Technique from Palgongjin Yangso where the user can gain power through a spirit-eating tree. It involved accumulating ki by feeding a vampiric tree their own flesh and blood to grow it into a spirit-eating tree.[6]

Poison Arts: Go Hyeop was considered to be a fearsome master of the poison arts.[1]

Notes & Trivia

  • While it was never outright stated in the story that Go Hyeop was the old man in the Muhae valley, evidence and dialogue from the other characters heavily implied it to be him.
