Hwang Zu, the Sky Thunder Star (
Appearance & Personality[]
He was a large imposing man with a unique hairstyle that consisted of a long braided mohawk and very long braided sideburns. A distinguishing feature of his were the three dots under each eye. He also wore armor over his robes and carried a large mace around.
Hwang Zu was an outwardly confident individual. Though slightly intimidated, even witnessing the power of a gosu such as Yongbi barely affected his confidence in his own strength. Like the other slayers, he had a sense of camaraderie as he wanted to avenge his fallen comrades Ze Wungang and Nameless.[1]

Plot[]
Revived Heavenly Destruction Sect[]
Having been allowed to wreak havoc, Hwang Zu traveled to the Swordmaster's Hall base where he declared he had come for their leader, Bang Yubok's, head. Smashing down their reputedly impregnable fortress wall, Hwang Zu begins his attack, sparking the war between the revived Heavenly Destruction Sect and the Murim Alliance.
Later, alongside Du Chun, Nameless and Ze Wungang, he travelled to the Baekma Valley's headquarters in search of the group but found the place deserted. Eventually stumbling into a trap, they all protected themselves from the ensuing explosions. Freeing himself from the rubble, he chuckled at Du Chun's angry ranting.
When Sage Forest elders Goo Hwi and Yongbi visited the Revived Heavenly Destruction Sect, Hwang Zu, along with fellow slayers Du Chun and Yeop Pae accompanied their superiors as they had a meeting with the elders. After the two elders negotiated that the conflict of the Revived Heavenly Destruction Sect and the Murim be resolved with a duel between champions, Hwang Zu watched them leave and became enraged after recalling Yongbi sizing him up during the meeting. Some time later during the clash between the champions of the Revived Heavenly Destruction Sect and the Sage Forest, Hwan Sa ordered him and Du Chun to bring a message to Hyeol Bi, urging him to make haste to their headquarters. Before leaving, Hyeol Bi tasked the two slayers with retrieving Gang Ryong along with the River Dragon Armour. They were then accosted by the Bewitching Flowers, and after both slayers recognized them as the group that took Gang to safety, Heuk Lan told the two to follow her. Gwak Sojong began his assaults on Heuk Lan but she dodged all his attacks and ran off. He and Hwang Zu chased her only to fall right into her trap but were able to demolish the spikes, saving themselves from being skewered. Looking down into the pit and seeing that her opponents survived, Heuk Lan ran off and the two enraged slayers chased after her.
During the pursuit, Hwang Zu and Sojong got caught in Heuk Lan's Five Elements Death Ward. In the illusory space, their surroundings transformed into the bottom of a ravine and then a massive surge of water flooded in, submerging them. Gwak Sojong and Hwang Zu broke out of Heuk Lan's Five Elements Death Ward, incapacitating her with an avalanche of rubble. The two slayers confronted Heuk Lan and mentioned that they were familiar with breaking out of barriers (most notably the Palace of Conception) having done so many times during their training. Then the girls from the Bewitching Flowers arrived to fend off the slayers and bring Heuk Lan to safety but the two easily caught up to them. Gwak Sojong prepared to finish the girls off but halted when he and Sojong noticed the River Dragon Armour. Inside the armour, Gang started to show signs of life and eventually emerged from it. Meanwhile, Sojong and Hwang Zu were preoccupied with the girls from the Bewitching Flowers and Sojong decided to finish them off. Heuk Lan started yelling that her grandfather will avenge her prompting Sojong to swing his blade at her. However, Gang Ryong stopped the blade before casually backhanding Sojong's head off his body. Hwang Zu was at first paralyzed by fear from Gwak Sojong's death but then steeled his resolve to take on Gang Ryong. He drew his knife, throwing it at Ryong before unleashing powerful strikes with his mace but Ryong caught the knife and blocked all attacks thrown at him. Clutching Hwang Zu's mace, Ryong pulled his opponent in and then using the knife, he gruesomely stab and tear apart the center of Hwang Zu's torso along with his head.

Wielding a large mace, he was able to completely destroy the fortress wall of the Swordmaster's Hall with ease, something that was considered to be impregnable.[3] His fighting style involved powerful strikes that caused destruction at a massive scale. Furthermore, he carried a knife on him that he uses to throw at enemies.[4]
