History[]
In the past, Hyeol Bi was one of Dokgo Ryong's closest aides (alongside Mak Sapyeong, Gwi Yeong) who fought with him on a six year conquest of Nanman.
After Dokgo Ryong returned from his 15 year self-imposed exile, Hyeol Bi and others gathered under him, forming the Heavenly Destruction Sect. He also became one of the Four Heavenly Kings.[2] During the Heavenly Destruction Sect's conquest of the Murim, they learned of their master's friendship with Gang Yoon and feared that it may make him deviate from their goal. Eventually, Hwan Sa convinced Hyeol Bi to make a move against Gang Yoon, resulting in the "Haidong Sword Clan incident", and the death of Gang Yoon. After finding out about the incident, Dokgo Ryong angrily confronted his disciples who pretend that by the time they received a report about people attacking the Haidong Sword Clan, they were too late to stop them, and that it wasn't their orders. The Four Heavenly Kings begged him to forgive them since they did it out of loyalty to the Sect but the Supreme Overlord refused. Dokgo Ryong then punished them before slaughtering the perpetrators outside. From then on, cracks started growing between the master and disciples.
The Four Heavenly Kings eventually decided to betray their master. It is unclear how Dokgo Ryong was injured by his disciples and abandoned in a valley but after scouring through records and intel, Yang Jeonghak speculated that they baited the Heavenly Destroyer with a woman disguised as Gang Ryong's mother which when combined with his leg being crippled by poison and loss of composure due to his mother, made it difficult for him to respond to their deliberately planned trap.[3]
The Heavenly Destruction Sect collapsed not long after and the Four Heavenly Kings supposedly died due to in-fighting between them.[4] However, in truth, Hyeol Bi went into hiding alongside Hwan Sa and Mak Sapyeong, forming a faction of their own.

Revived Heavenly Destruction Sect[]

Discussing the situation with Hwan Sa
Hearing of Mak Sapyeong's demise at the hands of Gang Ryong, Hyeol Bi discussed with Hwan Sa about bringing about the revival of the Heavenly Destruction Sect using Ryong as a sacrifice. Hwan Sa told him he would set things in motion by pitting the Murim Alliance against the Baekma Valley.
Later, after being informed of the Murim Alliance's alliance with the Baekma Valley by Hwan Sa, Hyeol Bi responded in minor disappointment before saying that heralding the rise of the Heavenly Destruction Sect would have to be done with their own hands. At that, he set the Seven Slayers of the Sky Gorge out to terrorise the Murim Alliance.

Preparing to slaughter the Murim Alliance forces
Heading to the Murim Alliance's headquarters with a small force, he set about destroying their base. Being challenged to a one-on-one by the Murim High Lord, Gwak Yeom, Hyeol Bi accepted before nonchalantly tanking the High Lord's attack without so much as a second thought. Disappointed, Hyeol Bi then attacked himself, annihilating the Murim High Lord and the followers around him.
Back in the headquarters, he summoned Hwan Sa to discuss the man's reluctance to relocate their headquarters to the Middle Kingdom. Despite Hwan Sa's insistence, Hyeol Bi asserted that once the seneschal had finished his business, they would begin moving. After Gang Ryong took down slayers Ze Wungang and Nameless, he gave out an edict to the factions that had pledged allegiance to them to capture Gang. However, the Pro-Heavenly Alliance was stopped due to the intervention of Hong Ye-Mong, meanwhile he was visited by Sage Forest elders Yongbi and Goo Hwi. They came to an agreement that the conflict will be solved with a duel between champions.
Later at the battlefield, Hyeol Bi expected to face off against the two elders but Gang Ryong showed up in their place. Clashing, Hyeol Bi was easily defeated and killed but he underwent Demonic Resurrection, greatly boosting his powers. He then overpowered the young man requiring him to be saved by Heuk Lan and Gha Woobok. The appearance of the River Dragon Armour also revealed Hwan Sa's plans to betray him. After a short fight, Hyeol Bi killed Woobok but ceased pursuing Gang after two slayers brought him a message from Hwan Sa to return to their headquarters. He ordered the two slayers to capture Gang Ryong before departing.
Back at the Sky Gorge Mountain, he interrogated Hwan Sa's apparition. Later, Doh Gyeom, Soh Jinhong, and Jin Garyeong arrived and he defeated the trio, dealing grievous injuries to them. Gang Ryong then arrived and fought him. Now on the backfoot, Hyeol Bi gave in and unleashed the true power of his Dan, undergoing a monstrous transformation. WIth his newfound powers, he overpowered Gang Ryong once more. However, Gang also harnessed the power of the Dan he had inside him and shattered Hyeol Bi's Dan. Not completely destroyed, it started to regenerate Hyeol Bi. Then a massive talon rushed out of the screen of dust followed by several horrifying appendages but Gang evaded them all. Right after, a severely mutated Hyeol Bi revealed himself, calling out for Gang, causing the young man to wonder if he will become like his opponent if his Dan broke too. Gang then vaulted up Hyeol Bi's mutated form into the air before unleashing the immensely powerful Nine Wheels of Devastation onto his opponent, drilling down into the Sky Gorge Mountain, obliterating everything in its range, and leaving a massive hole in its wake.
Inside the Sky Gorge Mountain, Hyeol Bi emerged from the rubble with a severely mutated and terrifying form resembling nothing like his old body, and nearby, Yongbi called it ugly before wondering what the monster was. Yongbi then evaded a strike from one of Hyeol Bi's many arms and when his opponent called out for Gang Ryong, Yongbi came to a realization the monster was Hyeol Bi before wondering if it was due to him losing control of the power of the Dan. Following up, Hyeol Bi attacked with multiple arms but they miss Yongbi who proceeded to wrap the arms around his staff before smashing his opponent's body against a pillar, reducing it to a broken and bloody splatter. The shattered red Dan started regenerating Hyeol Bi and Yongbi stared at it, finally recognizing the red fragments as the Dan. After regenerating his monstrous body, the Black Dragon King once again called out for Gang Ryong and Yongbi caught his attention, telling him to come to his location. Noting he had destroy the Dan to prevent regeneration, Yongbi winded up for a powerful attack before releasing the Black Shattering Blast, Blazing Dragon Obliteration, disintegrating Hyeol Bi's body along with the shattered red Dan.

Hyeol Bi clashing with Gang Ryong
As one of the Four Heavenly Kings who learned the Divine Heavenly Destruction Techniques from the Heavenly Destroyer, Hyeol Bi can be assumed to be an incredibly powerful combatant. His fellow Heavenly King, Hwan Sa, stated that his level of power has surpassed that of the Heavenly Destroyer's,[5] adding that Hyeol Bi wasn't the same as when he was a Heavenly King.[6] He was said to possess horribly malignant-feeling ki.[6] Furthermore, his powers were greatly enhanced due to the Dan he wielded.
As well as knowing the Divine Heavenly Destruction Techniques, he appeared to have created his own techniques based on them:
Demonic Resurrection: Through the use of this miraculous technique, Hyeol Bi was able to come back to life after dying, stronger than ever. In addition, the user will be able to use the Demonic Techniques after undergoing the process.[1]
