Yongbi the Invincible[]
Volume 7[]
With the rest of the Black Snake travelling through the Muhae Valley, they heard a sound and wondered where it came from. Jang-Ryong broke off a piece of the cart and hurled it into the ground, impaling a man hiding underground. With their cover blown, the rest of the martial artists jumped out and attacked. After effortlessly dealing with the ambush and sitting back down, Goo Hwi noticed that he was bleeding. Goo Hwi punished him and scolded him for getting injured by some riffraff, adding that he would put the Black Snake through hellish training when they return to their stronghold.
Volume 8[]
Later, Jang-Ryong and the Black Snake are having a meal when the the entire valley started shaking. They started blaming each other for shaking the cart but soon found out that the valley itself was shaking. As the tremors increased, the ground beneath them started breaking up and they abandoned the carts and took refuge in the forest.
Volume 9[]
Despite having retreated to safety, Sohee was incapacitated by illness. Goo Hwi ordered the Black Snake to take care of her while he left to find Yongbi, accompanied by only two of his men, Pung-Ho and Jang-Ryong. Later, as they stumble their way through the thick fog in the Muhae Valley, they eventually came across martial artists who had lost their minds. The martial artists instantly attacked Goo Hwi but he effortlessly took them down.
Volume 10[]
His party continued their journey through the valley, and as Hwangbo Soong's bodyguards Chomu and Lim Jin-Choong where about to betray and kill him, the old man called out to someone in the distance for help. Goo Hwi instantly showed up behind the two mercenaries, surprising them, but after determining that the problem was due to internal strife, he left. After Hwangbo Soong desperately offered monetary compensation, Chomu was insulted that the Hwangbo Soong thought so little of him and prepared to kill the old man, boasting that even Goo Hwi (the impostor) ran away from him, not realizing that the real Goo Hwi was nearby. At that statement, Goo Hwi returned and gripped Chomu's head in retaliation. Chomu freed himself from Goo Hwi's clutches and tried to break Goo Hwi's arm.
Goo Hwi easily shook off Chomu's attack and sent the latter crashing into a boulder nearby, heavily injuring him. Chomu got up and cried out in pain when he realized that his left wrist and hand were broken. Lim Jin-Choong watched in shock, intimidated by Goo Hwi's feat of strength and wondered who he was. The assassin drew his weapons but hesitated to attack. As he contemplated whether to strike Goo Hwi in the back, Jang-Ryong and Pung-Ho revealed their presence to the assassin and mused about the futility of sneak attacking a man as strong as Goo Hwi. Not long after, Goo Hwi killed Chomu, prompting Jang-Ryong and Pung-Ho to inform Lim Jin-Choong that he just lost his chance to attack Goo Hwi. The assassin saw their tattoo and realized out that they were Black Snake members and that the Goo Hwi there was the real deal. The two Black Snake assassins then get up to deal with Lim Jin-Choong but he slashed at them and jumped far away. Upon landing, the assassin discovered that the Black Snake members not only dodged his attack but had cut off both of his legs. As Lim Jin-Choong screamed in pain, Jang-Ryong and Pung-Ho are surprised he was able to jump so far despite having his legs cut.
Some time later, when Wang In was heavily injured in his fight with Yongbi, Jang-Ryong and Pung-Ho arrived in time to assist the unconscious and wounded Wang In. The Black Snake assassins treated Wang In's wounds while Goo Hwi confronted Yongbi. As Jang-Ryong and Pung-Ho finished giving Wang In medical aid, Hwangbo Soong brought their attention to the massive tsunami coming their way (created by Goo Hwi's clash with Yongbi), allowing them to escape the full brunt of the wave. Then sitting on top of trees, Jang-Ryong and Pung-Ho had a conversation about who would win the fight with the former noting that Goo Hwi will have to go all-out to win.
Volume 11[]
As Goo Hwi and Yongbi continued their titanic clash, Jang-Ryong was wandering around looking for Goo Hwi and he stumbled upon an area with traces of Goo Hwi's strongest techniques.
Meanwhile, Yongbi and Goo Hwi are both completely exhausted from their fight and they decide to end it. Goo Hwi generated an immense amount of ki, giving off heat so intense that Jang-Ryong could feel it from far away while Yongbi prepared to use a powerful technique as well. Then Goo Hwi unleashed the Fire Demon's Heaven Incinerating Earth Flame, the strongest kill-move of the Seven Step Black Wind Fist! Yongbi countered Goo Hwi's strongest move with his Nine Dragon Fangs technique and the impact of both techniques clashing created a massive explosion and shock wave. In the aftermath, Jang-Ryong emerged from the rubble and goes looking for Goo Hwi but only found a tremendous fissure and the area completely leveled.
Volume 15[]
When Jang-Ryong went to secluded location to take a leak, one of the Murim Alliance's elite agents stumbled upon him and Jang-Ryong told him to leave before relieving himself. As he wondered where Goo Hwi went, the agent tried to kill him but he evaded in time. As the rest of the Murim Alliance agents showed up, the Black Snake assassins did the same to back him up. Recognizing each other, both sides prepared to clash. But before they can fight, Ilgak came running between them and warned his agents to evacuate as a volcano was about to erupt before rushing off with them. Right after, Goo Hwi arrived and reunited with Sohee and the Black Snake. After a short conversation, Hyeon Jae-Yang urged them to leave the valley as soon as possible. Jang-Ryong was then seen urgently running again as the volcano erupted in the distance.
