Jang Woon (장운, Jang-un) during the days of the Old Murim Alliance, was a Branch Master of the Beggars' Sect (개방, Gaebang), a widely connected faction comprised fully of beggars.[1] He was also set to be the next leader of the faction.[2]
Appearance & Personality[]
In his youth, Jang Woon had messy and long black hair with strands sticking out everywhere, and was tied into a low ponytail. He had long sideburns with distinct symmetrical bangs. He also has a stubble on his chin. His clothes are shabby befitting a member of the Beggars' Sect and he wore a red scarf.
Jang Woon possesses a relaxed attitude and is somewhat of an easy-going individual. He can act quite lazy at times but has a sharp mind for martial arts. He is also a righteous person as he took down a whole group of Mountain Bandits upon hearing about them terrorizing a town of poor civilians.

History[]
He had been a member of the Beggars' Sect ever since he was young and was trained in martial arts by the upper echelon. At one point, he had an encounter with Goo Hwi, the Heaven Ravager King which affected him greatly. Jang Woon noted that Goo Hwi was the first person who made him feel inferior.[3]
At some point, Jang Woon became a Branch Master of the Beggars' Sect, and was set to be its next leader. He wandered the world while practicing his martial arts, the Invisible Demonic Beast Fist (은형수마권), and after hearing about Dokgo Ryong's reputation as a great warrior, went to his home to challenge him to a fight. The two fought for three days and nights, but the battle ended in a stalemate. However, they became friends and were so close that they almost met every day. Jang Woon stayed with Dokgo, telling him about the martial artists of the Middle Kingdom, practicing martial arts together and defending the region. After 5 years, Jang Woon finished his training and returned home but not before telling his friend to visit him after everything is cleared up.

Yongbi the Invincible - A Side Story[]
Volume 2[]
The day after staying in a village and heard about the bandits terrorizing on them, Jang Woon strolled into the Biweol mountain bandits' stronghold and reprimanded the bandits for preying on the common folk. The bandit leader then comes out of his home and confronted the young man. Jang Woon defeated all the bandits and wandered off, having gone mad and rabid. Later, he woke up from his unconscious state and wondered where he was. As he started to depart, he noticed a heavily injured Yongbi resting inside a tree trunk. Jang Woon attempted to approach Yongbi but was told to leave immediately.
Stalking Yongbi, he spied on him as he killed the assassins on his trail. Yongbi made himself known to Jang Wooon who was hiding in a tree and ordered him to come down. When he declined, Yongbi knocked him down with his staff. Waking up later, he called out to Yongbi and then found himself tied up. In a threatening manner, Yongbi told Jang Woon to identify himself as the latter knew of him. When he tried to pass himself off as Goo Hwi, Yongbi ordered Biryong to throw him off a cliff.
Some time later, he watched Heukweol's fight with Yongbi. Stealthily appearing beside Heukweol's companion Yeonhwa, he deduced that the town was set up for Heukweol to fight Yongbi in and that the former had memorized the entire layout. He also noted that Yeonhwa's job was to inform Heukweol with her flute of any additional information, and praised Heukweol's extraordinary talent. At dawn, Yongbi emerged victorious and started to leave. Sensing a presence, he stopped and glanced over at the direction of Jang Woon who quickly retreated behind cover.
