Volume 5[]

After being informed by his subordinate that a fire was coming from the direction of the Hweyang Villa, they hurriedly made their way there. Then arriving at the burning villa, he encountered Goo Hwi and blamed for being responsible for laying waste to it. When the other members of the faction arrive as well, they all excuse Goo Hwi as the culprit for what happened at the villa and Goo Hwi happily challenged them thinking that this was all a ploy to justify killing him. Goo Hwi released his ki and charged in while the Cheonwoong Faction members deployed their formations. As both sides were about to clash, the High Elder appeared and struck Goo Hwi in the chest with a palm strike. After being knocked back, Goo Hwi inquired the High Elder on why he withdrew his power despite having the opportunity to strike a fatal blow on him. The High Elder cleared Goo Hwi's name and allowed him to leave. The High Elder then revealed to the other faction members that Gwan was wounded by a demonic technique and that a monk carrying the High Lord's edict took his broken body to safety at the faction's headquarters.

Jin Paechu and the other Great Elders accompanied the High Elder as they returned to the Cheonwoong Faction's base to find them in chaos looking for Ilgak who had disappeared. The High Elder examined Gwan and found out that the rapid decay of Gwan's body had stopped and the flow of his ki was returning. Then the High Elder told the faction members to stop searching for Ilgak, the monk who carried the High Lord's edict and was a talented healer, adding that they will never find him as he had mastered a stealth movement skill, allowing Ilgak to go anywhere undetected. Later, all ten Great elders sat around a table and discussed the events that had happened and Goo Hwi's role in it. The High Elder then revealed that the hand he used to strike Goo Hwi had been scarred, adding that Goo Hwi had grown far stronger than they have anticipated. Using his authority, the High Elder sent a search squad after the demonists, Sanggwan Chaek, and Yongbi to investigate the incident.
