Lord Moonjoo (비도문주, Bidomunju; "Lord Moonjoo") is the leader of the Secret Sword School, and the father of Heukweol and the late Biweol.

Appearance & Personality[]

He is an aged man with prominent wrinkles on his face and usually as a stern expression. His black hair is tied into a bun, and has sharp eyebrows, a long thin beard, and a Fu Manchu moustache.

Lord Moonjoo is a cruel and ferocious man who believed in the superiority of highborn over the lowborn. This very belief caused him to detest and severely beat his illegitimate son Heukweol because the boy's mother was of lowly status even though Heukweol is incredibly talented. Though it seems that he does care about Heukweol to some extent as he was willing to give up a valuable asset such as Yeonhwa, sending her along with the boy as a servant when he was exiled.

History[]

In the past, Lord Moonjoo came into service of the Grand General Yuk Jingang who used him and his faction for many operations.

At some point, he fooled around with a woman which resulted in the birth of Heukweol. Even though he took in Heukweol when the boy's mother died, he treated him like dirt in favor of his legitimate son Biweol. When Heukweol learned Biweol's martial arts through eavesdropping and self learning, Lord Moonjoo punished Heukweol severely and then banished him (along with a young girl to assist him as his servant), refusing to acknowledge the boy as his son.[1]

Later, the Grand General commissioned an operation to hunt down Yongbi, promising that Lord Moonjoo would be pardoned from his service after it is finished.[2]

Volume 3[]

Lord Moonjoo met with the Grand General, Yuk Jingang at an outpost in the middle of a large body of water. When Lord Moonjoo sat down, the Grand General questioned him if he knew the reason for the summon. Lord Moonjoo replied that it was to commission a new mission to which Yuk Jingang noted that the current mission to eliminate Yongbi was suppose to be the last. Then Lord Moonjoo reminded the Grand General that the latter promised to pardon him from his service with this mission but the Grand General offhandedly revealed he did not intend to keep his promise. Furthermore, Yuk Jingang commented that he was personally intervening in the hunt for Yongbi and told Lord Moonjoo to wash his hands of the situation as he did not believe they can succeed. However, Lord Moonjoo was unable to swallow these conditions, citing the critical losses of his agents and two sons (thinking Heukweol was dead). Lord Moonjoo then angrily called out the Grand General on how this was his plan all along and how he used the former's organization as bait, adding that the Grand General intended to dispose of them once they outlived their usefulness. Yuk Jingang slyly replied that he never asked for their deaths, only for Lord Moonjoo to wash his hands of the situation. Knowing that the Grand General still had far greater schemes in mind, Lord Moonjoo furiously called him out once more. At that, numerous warriors of the Secret Sword School appear and surrounded Yuk Jingang, angering the latter.

As the warriors of the Secret Sword School surrounded Yuk Jingang, they were suddenly beset with a barrage of arrows, wiping out a number of them. Lord Moonjoo inquired on the source of the attack before noticing a fleet of ships carrying the Grand General's forces emerging from the fog. At that, the Grand General told Lord Moonjoo that he had misunderstood the situation but stated that he will be punished for baring hostilities towards him. However, the Grand General gave Lord Moonjoo a chance to fight for his survival, adding he will not be harmed while on the outpost but promised that he would be hunted down in time.

Lord Moonjoo then took out a sphere and guaranteed vengeance before hurling the sphere at the ground, setting off a massive explosion that gave Lord Moonjoo the chance to escape with his subordinates.

Powers and Abilities[]

While he has yet to show his prowess, he did demonstrate the ability to catch an arrow in mid air. Furthermore, he possesses a sphere that when set off, produces a powerful explosion. Despite the sphere possessing great offensive power, he used as a means to cause mayhem to escape from unfavorable situations.[3]
