Master Jeok was Jeok Seong's father and the patriarch of the very wealthy Jeok Family.

He was an elderly man with a long white beard and a thick moustache. Master Jeok also wore attire befitting his wealthy status.
He seemed to be a kind man since he was very popular with the villagers. Master Jeok loved his son Jeok Seong so much that he sold off all his assets and used up all his wealth just to get try to get his son back.

He had a happy life but everything fell apart when Jeok Seong was arrested for murder. He and his wife turned in petitions to the magistrate and tried various avenues to save their only child but was unsuccessful. However, one of the officials took pity on him and advised him to seek help from an influential figure in the capital city. So Master Jeok sold off all his assets and left for the capital to gain the influential figure's favour.
Three years later, he returned unsuccessful having learned nothing on the whereabouts of Jeok Seong. The long travels and stress over the loss of his son was too much for him and he passed away in winter with his wife following soon after.[1]
