Oh Dae-Yu (오대유, Odaeyu) was the younger brother of Oh Jamu and Oh Shin, and together they formed an infamous group of duelists called the Shadowless Ghost Trio. He became an apothecary after retiring from dueling.

Appearance & Personality[]

He was an imposing man with a bald and oddly shaped head, a small button nose, a unibrow, and a distinguishing mole under his left eye. He also wore the clothing of a workingman.

At first, it seemed that he was a quiet man and only made comments occasionally. However, like his brothers, he secretly harbored a bloodthirsty personality. When the opportunity to obtain the legendary Golden Medallion came up, he instantly broke his oath of exilement and attacked the man his brother just aided.

History[]

Five years before the events of Yongbi the InvincibleOh Dae-Yu and his brothers dueled and killed Ma Hwe-Mo, the chief of the Blue Sea Gang and one of the 'Triumvirates of the southern seas'. This caused a great shock to the entire murim and caused them to reconsider duelists in general as duelists operated with an unspoken rule that they should avoid challenging any of the ten grandmasters of the gangho or anyone from a well-established and righteous faction that is full of accomplished warriors. At the time, chief Ma Hwe-Mo was someone who fit the bill on both accounts.[1]

At some point, Oh Dae-Yu took an oath to never return to the Middle Kingdom ever again and became an apothecary alongside his brothers.[2]

Volume 1[]

As Yongbi sat around in a forest with Biryong struggling to deal with his constipation nearby. Oh Dae-Yu and his brothers, Oh Jamu and Oh Shin, stumbled upon them. To the shock of everyone, Oh Jamu helped relieve Biryong by thrusting his arm into Biryong's rear and removing the blockage which turned out to be the Golden Medallion. At that, Oh Jamu gave Yongbi some medicinal herbs and the three brothers left. However, when Yongbi inspected the item that gave Biryong constipation, he finally recognized it as the golden medallion and excitedly exclaimed so, catching their attention. He and his brothers then approached Yongbi and after confirming that the medallion was indeed the golden medallion, they drew their weapons and prepared to attack.

Oh Dae-Yu and his brothers then unleashed a flurry of attacks at Yongbi but the bounty hunter evaded all of it. After a short chat, Oh Jamu was momentarily distracted by a wasp hive Yongbi kicked into the air earlier and the latter used the opportunity to escape. Despite this, the brothers easily caught up to Biryong and Yongbi, and once again launched an attack but this time, they managed to injure Yongbi. The furious bounty hunter clashed with the trio, and killed them one by one. Oh Dae-Yu was the first to perish, and then Oh Shin, with Oh Jamu being the last to fall. Their corpses were then disposed of by Biryong.

Powers and Abilities[]

Oh Dae-Yu wielded a steel staff with a cylindrical striking head chained to it, resembling a flail. He was an incredibly powerful martial artist who possessed great physical strength being able to wield a staff that weighed 60-geun and was also even able to outrun a galloping horse.[3] Despite his already incredible martial arts prowess, he was even more dangerous when fighting alongside his brothers and their combined attacks were capable of pressuring a gosu of Yongbi's caliber for a short while.
