Rock-Paper-Scissors is the second story arc of Gosu (The Master), consisting of four chapters.

Plot Summary[]

The captured criminal Wang Ahk recounts about how his life might differ if he hadn't lost his first rock-paper-scissors game against his little brother. Later, he was rescued by his gang, the notorious White Skulls bandits and he offed his three escorts after they lose a game of rock-paper-scissors to him. Later that night, he explained how he got captured and ended up slaying his lieutenant after being offended by his comments. Then asking about the whereabouts of "that guy", his subordinates revealed what they had found.

The next day, on their way to their destination, Wang Ahk and his subordinates encountered Gang Ryong who is delivering dumplings. Challenging Gang to a game of rock-paper-scissors, he and the White Skulls were shocked when Gang won and heads off. In ire, he told his men to catch Gang but they fail to do so; Wang promptly punished them with a game of rock-paper-scissors. Gang then delivered the dumplings to Lord Nam, as well as a gift of ginseng from Old Man Hwang as appreciation for the Lord's donations. When Gang left, Lord Nam revealed his true colors and talked down the villagers but ultimately decided to retreat to a quieter life.

Later, Wang Ahk replayed his game of rock-paper-scissors with Gang in his head while his men massacred the guards at Lord Nam's manor. Then confronting Lord Nam, he was revealed to be actually Hyeol Pyo, a former member of the White Skulls who had defected from them along with some of their gold. Then Wang Ahk challenged Hyeol Pyo to a game of rock-paper-scissors but crushed his skull after the latter refused and insulted him. Meanwhile, Gang Ryong played with some kids before heading back to the tavern only to find out about Lord Nam's (Hyeol Pyo) demise.

After Gang rushed to Lord Nam's manor to confirm his death, the former sought out the White Skull's base and confronted Wang Ahk inside. Jovially greeting Gang, Wang Ahk cuts to the chase and challenged Gang to a game of rock-paper-scissors. Gang agrees, adding that if he won they would have to turn themselves in to the magistrates and if he lost he would let Wang fight him. Wang accepts the conditions eagerly and as he counted down from rock to paper, Gang immediately plays scissors. Wang looked at Gang's insurmountable expression and realised what a monster Gang really is. He slowly played paper and thus voluntarily losing, much to his subordinates' shock. Gang then cheerfully left and the White Skulls gave chase whilst Wang, paralysed with fear, fruitlessly tried to warn them from going after him. In the end, Wang Ahk and the rest of the White Skulls went mad and turned themselves in to the authorities.
