The area that the Sage Forest resides in
The Sage Forest (
About[]
After the Great War against the Asura Blood Sect, many gosu, disillusioned with the state of the murim, left and settled down[2] in an area that would later come to be called the Sage Forest.
The area that the Sage Forest resides is protected by a thick foggy barrier created by a certain mystical conjuration. Trying to enter without permission may cause a person to end up wandering lost in a maze of fog until they die; while the outside might not look any different from the normal, if one does somehow get through the barrier, they might end up being greeted by the sight of a scorching desert or an endless sea.[3]
History[]
Having left the murim, Goo Hwi made an oath that he would never get involved in the affairs of the murim again.[3] It's heavily implied that the other members of the Sage Forest made the same oath, as Yongbi noted they would not allow Goo Hwi to enter back into the murim.[4] Even when the Heavenly Destroyer and his followers terrorized the entire murim and ruled much of the land, the Sage Forest stayed out of its affairs.
Several decades later with the threat of the Revived Heavenly Destruction Sect and their supporters looming over the murim, select members of the Sage Forest were once again pulled into action. After Yongbi persuaded the other members of the Sage Forest to allow them to go out into the murim again, Hong Ye-Mong prevented the Pro-Heavenly Destruction Alliance from clashing with the Baekma Valley, Pungjin Sect, and Murim Alliance remnants.[5] Meanwhile, acting on intel from Yul Mugi, Goo Hwi and Yongbi went to have a talk with the leaders of the Revived Heavenly Destruction Sect with Ilgak tagging along to investigate them for ties with the extinct Asura Blood Sect.[6] Goo Hwi and Hyeol Bi discussed the terms of the war with the two coming to the deal that the champions of the Revived Heavenly Destruction Sect and the remaining Murim Alliance would battle to determine the outcome of the war, with the Sage Forest as mediators. In addition, Goo Hwi promised to open the path to the Sage Forest if they took his offer. Hyeol Bi also proposed that Goo Hwi and Yongbi themselves participate in the battle and Goo Hwi readily accepted.[7] The warriors on the Sage Forest's side succeeded and Revived Heavenly Destruction Sect was annihilated.
